While the women were heading back from the tomb, some of the guards went into the city and told the chief priests all that had happened.

When they had gathered and consulted with the elders, they gave a large amount of silver to the soldiers, with the instructions: “Say that his disciples came by night and stole him away while we slept. If the governor hears about it, we will persuade him and free you from worry.”  

So the soldiers took the money and did as they were told. And this story was spread among the Jews, and continues to this day.

But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had sent them. When they saw him, they bowed to him; but some doubted. Jesus came to them and spoke, saying,

“All authority on heaven and on earth has been given to me. So go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I’ve commanded you. And remember: I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
