I have set the LORD always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad,
and my whole being rejoices;
my flesh also dwells secure.

At Dale Thompson's memorial, we reflected:
"The composer – King David, it’s assumed – knows that not only is the LORD there with him, but the LORD is right where David needs his help most. And this is no trivial thing. David spent years of his life tending sheep alone in the field; he knew what it was like to take on lions and bears and giants. He ran for his life from the king before him - a jealous despot named Saul. He hid in caves, foraged for food, and spent years with nothing but his wits and his God and some loyal followers to depend upon.
So King David was familiar with danger. He knew harrowing moments that would make anyone feels shaken; would make anyone feel insecure. But David knew something. He trusted something. The LORD Jehovah was with him.
